Electrics and Electronics
Electronics and other black Arts
Electronics has advanced a huge amount over the last few decades. The pace of change is breathtaking. The cost of decent reliable transmitters, receivers, servos and even batteries have come down dramatically.
There are a few basic rules to using all the electronics that now seem very much part of our hobby. This section is intended to try to help all of us to better understand the gear we use.
The idea for this section started when Jack Stanley was good enough to send an article about Planet 5 Transmitters and receivers.
This section will evolve as more articles are received, if anybody has a particular request about any electronics information they need or articles of interest that can be added to this section send them to Cathy at [email protected].
So far I had thought about sections on:
Batteries - Dry, Nimh, Lipo/Life, Lead acid. - Only comment at the moment - DO NOT USE THE WRONG CHARGER WITH any LITHIUM batteries. They bite if abused.
Soldering - I am sure this is applicable to general model making as well.
Motor/Propeller Selection - The first of the black arts!!
How Transmitters and receivers work, their history and developement. Analogue v digital.
Fuses - do we really need them? - YES
