The following message has been sent out to all other clubs who regularly attend Kirklees Model Boat Club Events:
Dear Kirklees Model Boat Club Visitor,
Please be aware of the following requirement if you are bringing a steam powered model to the Kirklees Model Boat Club for the purposes of having it tested by the Kirklees Model Boat Club boiler inspector. This applies throughout the year not just Steam Day.
In order to ensure that we comply with the latest set of rules, as laid out in the Model Engineers Liaison Group code of practice, which came into effect on the 1st May 2018, specifically:
Volume 1, Section 4.5 "Persons presenting boilers for test under these arrangements shall be members of the club or society under whose name the boiler is to be examined and/or tested".
as well as to ensure that the Kirklees Model Boat Club insurers are happy to provide cover for all steam models tested by the club, it is a requirement that all persons presenting models for steam testing will be a full member of the Kirklees Model Boat Club. The fee to become a full member will be £18 for the first year but reduces in the following year.
Anyone wishing to use the testing facility of the Kirklees Model Boat Club will have to join at the time of testing however the membership will only last until the 31st March of the following year and should the membership be allowed to lapse after that date, the certification will become invalid for insurance purposes. It will remain valid for proof of testing for future verification.
Many thanks for your understanding
Best regards
