Club 500 Racing At Kirklees Model Boat Club
A Club 500 Racing calendar was reintroduced at The Kirklees Model Boat Club in 2017 with a season of eight races held monthly between February and September. Since that time the popularity slowly increased with a regular group of participants taking to the water for race days. A set of rules were drawn up, using the original Model Slipway rules as a foundation, but were adapted to suit the water at Wilton Park. Covid restrictions prevented the series from being run in 2020 and 2021 but it is hoped that a new series can be run in 2022.
The philosophy has always been centered around having fun with the emphasis put on enjoying the event rather than the winning although there is a Club 500 trophy to be won at the end of the year, held by the winning boat and driver combination until it is handed over at the end of the next season.
Below is a copy of the racing rules with a downloadable version at the foot of the page.
